SHADOW MODE: BOOK ONE
Gunnery Sergeant John David Ryerson of the United Terran Marine Corps knows what he’s doing on a battlefield. Doesn’t matter what planet. Hell, doesn’t matter if it’s on a planet. Wherever the Corps sends him, the Gunny goes.
Even if it means partnering with a brand new prototype mechanical warfighter called MIMIC. An Electronic Intelligence programmed to learn and adapt is downloaded with everything historically important to the Marines. Battles, heroes, reports. From the first Royal Marines and Continental Marines of the 18th Century to now, the MIMIC understands it all.
Mission. Weapons. Tradition. Oorah.
Created by the brilliant scientist Freyja Einarsdottir with the able assistance of Gunny Ryerson’s older brother, himself a decorated Marine Raider, the mech becomes more than a simple mechanized tool in the battlespace. It’s a force multiplier, capable of bringing a level of hurt to the enemies of the Terran Alliance no matter where those enemies are found.
And they’re out there. Some are old foes… Some are new.
Some aren’t human.
But with his brother’s death in combat, Gunnery Sergeant JD Ryerson becomes the MIMIC’s partner. Named Mike after Ryerson’s brother, the two become a cohesive team. When Ryerson engages what the people at the Terran Advanced Research Program called ‘Shadow Mode’, Mike becomes a synchronized mirror of the highly decorated veteran Marine warfighter the mech is partnered with.
And there may just be more to Mike than anybody anticipated. There’s not much that can stand against them. But there are many who are going to try.
Shadow Mode.
