Anthromech & Shadow Mode

So, here we go!

Anthromech, the brainchild anthology of William Alan Webb published by Chris Kennedy Publishing was released last Friday, May 29th! As you probably know by now, this anthology is something that’s never been attempted before, as every story in it is intended to be the origin story for a brand new science fiction series. All of the stories are truly original and a lot of incredibly talented authors have contributed. It’s been met with great reviews and commentary, so we’re all pretty pleased.

In the last blog post, I told you I’d had the great good fortune to partner with Kevin Steverson (kevinsteverson.com) and collaborate with him on our short story “Me and My Shadow”. Chris Kennedy not only placed our short story in the pole position within the anthology, but he also picked it up as the first series to be contracted and told us he wanted three books at least! Rumor has it that he wants two more after that…

Book One in the series, entitled Shadow Mode will be released on June 26th in three short weeks. Can’t wait! Writing this series with Kevin is an ongoing education and wonderful experience all its own. During this time writing, I’ve had three great mentors in Kevin, Bill Webb and Chris Kennedy. Each of them have dozens of books published, and all of them have generously given this novice the benefit of their time and expertise. They make me better.

Another coach I’m fortunate to have in my world is an outstanding editor by the name of Mia Kleve, who’s editing some books I’ve written solo. Folks, it’s like I’m getting a master’s course in practical writing and authorship that is priceless from these talented people. Pretty cool, huh?

The release date for Shadow Mode, June 26th, is a Friday as well as Day One of LibertyCon 38 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, that entire weekend. Chris Kennedy is hosting a panel Saturday for all of us who authored stories for the Anthromech anthology. In addition to Anthromech, the panel will also give everyone a taste of what’s coming from Chris Kennedy Publishing during the next year. Even more anticipated by yours truly is the afterhours social stuff that Saturday evening. It’s called BarCon, and apparently it’s a lot of laughs and remarkable stories. Looking forward to that one!

I’m honored to be included in that group and that panel. I’ll also be on the “Newbie” panel hosted by an author whose work I enjoy named John Ringo.

This is all a blessing and a challenge. The blessing is obvious, and the challenge is to continually strive for ‘better’. Be a better writer, student of the craft and try harder to bring others along. I promise to continue on that road as best I can.

More to come on Shadow Mode, a story Kevin and I hope you’ll all enjoy. It’s full of fun characters I know you’ll come to root for and against! Looking forward to all of this,

and I’ll sure let you know how it goes!

Remember to keep pushing forward on your dream to write. There’s nothing more fun with tech than the worlds you all have inside you waiting to be born!
